La pittura di Gust De Smet consiste in una miscela unica di espressionismo e cubismo, racchiusa in una tavolozza molto personale. Ha vissuto e lavorato a Deurle, una frazione di Sint-Martens-Latem. La sua sobria casa è ora un museo. Il percorso (6,5 km) inizia nel pittoresco centro del villaggio di Deurle e ci porta lungo il Cyriel Buyssepad verso i luoghi più belli di Deurle, passando per alcuni musei come Gust De Smet, Dhondt-Dhaenens (MDD) e Gevaert-Minne, attraverso il meraviglioso Viale delle Faggi Rossi e lungo sentieri boschivi come il Viale del Capitolo. Lungo il percorso ci sono pannelli informativi con spiegazioni sul sito, sugli artisti e sul loro lavoro.
