Leggenda greca
Secondo una leggenda greca, Dio durante la creazione diede a tutte le piante un nome. Quando pensò di aver finito, un piccolo fiore blu esclamò: "Oh Signore, non dimenticarmi!". "Così ti chiamerai" rispose il Signore allora.
Leggenda medievale
Nel Medioevo c'era un cavaliere che passeggiava con la sua amata lungo un fiume. Mentre raccoglieva un mazzo di fiori, cadde in acqua a causa del peso della sua armatura. Mentre stava annegando, lanciò il mazzo di fiori verso la sua amata e gridò "Non dimenticarmi". Questo fiore è legato alla romantica e alla tragedia ed era spesso indossato dalle donne come segno di fedeltà e amore eterno.
