Grazie alla sua posizione accanto all'area naturale delle 'Kalkense Meersen' e al suo pittoresco ma vivace piazza del villaggio, il piccolo paese di Schellebelle (comune di Wichelen) è una piccola attrazione turistica.
Nel 2005, Schellebelle è stata eletta il nome di villaggio più bello delle Fiandre. Una spiegazione popolare etimologica presuppone che il nome del villaggio derivi dalla campana a squillo con cui si poteva chiamare il traghetto, mentre un'altra spiegazione molto diffusa è che si riferisse alla curva dello Schelda chiamata quelle belle dalle barche francesi.
Alcune attrazioni includono la Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista, il municipio e il Kot, un piccolo edificio nel centro, originariamente una casa di allerta, in seguito un piccolo spazio carcerario. Schellebelle è anche la sede di Lingerie Van de Velde.
