L'assedio di Ath nei Paesi Bassi austriaci da parte di un esercito francese sotto Maurizio di Sassonia ebbe luogo nel settembre/ottobre del 1745. Nella campagna del 1744, il maresciallo Maurizio di Sassonia ricevette l'ordine di rompere il cinturone fortificato olandese in Fiandre con un esercito di 90.000 uomini; l'obiettivo era conquistare Tournai, Gand, Bruges, Ath e Mons. Nel giugno del 1745, Tournai si arrese, garantendo così il passaggio attraverso la Schelda. Successivamente, caddero Gand il 15 luglio, Oudenaarde, Dendermonde, Ostenda e Nieuport.
