Qui l'ambiente diretto del canale lascia quasi nessuno spazio alla natura. La piantumazione delle sponde in gabioni (cestini metallici) fissati ai muri di sponda, contribuisce a abbellire e a rendere più verdi le vie d'acqua e occupa inoltre pochissimo spazio. In collaborazione con la Maison de la Pêche della Vallonia, la città di Liegi ha affrontato come progetto pilota le sponde di un ramo della Mosa e un bacino portuale in questo modo. Le radici delle piante semi-acquatiche (iris, variegrassi,...) di quelle sponde sono tra l'altro benefiche per lo sviluppo della vita acquatica (larve, pesci,...).
