La Tiensestraat è una strada nel centro di Leuven che collega il Rector De Somerplein, situato in posizione centrale, con la tangenziale di Leuven. La strada cambia lì al Tiensepoort nel Tiensesteenweg. Dal 1 giugno 2013, la parte della strada più verso il centro è stata completamente pedonalizzata fino all'incrocio con la Bériotstraat, il che ha comportato un forte aumento degli esercizi di ristorazione. In questo modo, la strada diventa un concorrente della Muntstraat, conosciuta come IL ristorante-stato di Leuven.
La prima guerra mondiale distrusse alcuni degli edifici lungo la strada, soprattutto nella parte più antica del centro, dopodiché la ricostruzione seguì con la ricostruzione dell'architettura.
