La località Buchenhofen si trova nel quartiere residenziale omonimo di Wuppertal, Buchenhofen, nell'attuale distretto di Elberfeld-Ovest al confine con Vohwinkel. Si trova a sud del maniero Hammerstein, sulla riva destra del Wupper.
La fattoria Buchenhofen fu menzionata per la prima volta nel 1193 in un documento. Il nobile Guglielmo di Limburg vendette al monastero di Gräfrath la sua fattoria Buchenhofen presso Sonnborn. La fattoria stessa era un feudo maschile e rimase di proprietà del monastero fino alla sua dissoluzione nel 1803. Ulteriori menzioni avvennero nel 1591 e nel 1612. A Buchenhofen apparteneva l'area boschiva di 80 ettari denominata Klosterbusch.
