La torre di trasmissione di Magdeburgo è stata costruita direttamente nella città di Magdeburgo sul Lago Lungo con lo scopo di trasmettere DVB-T. Con i suoi 160 metri di altezza, il traliccio di trasmissione è l'edificio più alto di Magdeburgo. La torre di trasmissione fornisce l'intera area urbana e suburbana di Magdeburgo con televisione digitale terrestre. Il 31 maggio 2016 è iniziata la trasmissione pilota dei programmi DVB-T2 HD.
Il 29 marzo 2017 è terminata la trasmissione dei programmi DVB-T e ha preso avvio il funzionamento regolare di DVB-T2 HD. Da allora, sui programmi standard DVB-T2 trasmettono i canali dell'ARD, del ZDF e l'offerta commerciale di freenet TV nel formato di codifica video HEVC e in risoluzione Full HD.
