Il Rotbach è un affluente lungo 39,1 km, situato a sud-ovest e orograficamente a sinistra della Erft, nei distretti di Euskirchen e Rhein-Erft in Renania-Vestfalia.
Il Rotbach nasce come Nöthener Siefen nell'Eifel e scorre attraverso il Reno. La sua sorgente si trova sul bordo sud-est del Kermeters, una parte settentrionale dell'Eifel, tra Kall-Wallenthal a sud-est e Mechernich-Voißel a nord, due località che il torrente non attraversa. A valle, rispettivamente a nord-est di Voißel, il corso d'acqua porta fino a Mechernich-Glehn anche il nome di Schliebach e da Glehn fino a Mechernich-Eicks si chiama Mühlenbach o Bruchbach.
