La miniera Adolf era una miniera a Merkstein, un quartiere di Herzogenrath. Faceva parte delle miniere del bacino carbonifero di Aix-la-Chapelle e produsse carbone dal 1913 al 1972.
La concessione Merkstein per i giacimenti di carbone nell'area della futura miniera Adolf fu acquisita nella metà del XIX secolo dall'Eschweiler Bergwerksverein, insieme alla miniera Anna nella vicina Alsdorf. Solo alla fine del secolo l'EBV decise di costruire una nuova miniera tra Merkstein e Plitschard su un campo aperto. Il 12 giugno 1889 fu piantata la prima pala nel terreno per la miniera. Prende il nome da Adolf von Steffens, presidente del consiglio di vigilanza dell'EBV dal 1871 al 1898.
