Nasce presso la Zimmermühle nel quartiere Ebersdorf di Löbau, nel Liebesdörfel, attraverso la confluenza delle acque di Großschweidnitz e Cunnersdorf.
Il corso del fiume scorre a nord di Ebersdorf tra il centro città di Löbau e il Löbauer Berg. A nord della città si trova il villaggio di Georgewitz, seguito da una stretta valle rocciosa, la Georgewitzer Skala, che si estende fino a Opole. Presso Kleinradmeritz inizia il corso verso nord-ovest attraverso una valle pianeggiante con molti meandri, dove si trovano i luoghi di Glossen, Grube, Trauschwitz, Lautitz, Maltitz e Wasserkretscham.
