La Scharfenstein è una roccia alta circa 25 metri nel monte Zittauer. La sua cima si trova a 569 metri. A causa della sua forma caratteristica, è anche chiamata "Matterhorn della Lusazia" o "Matterhorn dell'Alta Lusazia". La roccia è accessibile tramite scale e scalinate sul lato sud ed è una delle rocce panoramiche più conosciute del monte Zittauer.
La Scharfenstein si trova a est della località termale di Oybin, sulla cresta montuosa tra la Brandhöhe a sud e il Töpfer a nord, all'incrocio di diversi sentieri escursionistici. Le formazioni rocciose vicine sono la Felsengasse e la Kleine Felsengasse. Alla base della roccia si trova un pannello con informazioni geologiche e un riparo.
