Il Lützelburg è un castello in rovina e quindi anche un monumento archeologico a Kempten. Dati esatti sulla sua origine e proprietà non sono noti. Johann Baptist Haggenmüller fa riferimento nel suo libro di storia pubblicato nel 1840, Storia della città e della contea principesca di Kempten, a un ponte di legno tra il Burghalde, situato solo pochi metri più a nord, e il Lützelburg nell'11° secolo. Non sono notate prove concrete a sostegno di ciò. Secondo Joseph Meirhofer, i castelli erano collegati da un “passaggio”.
In una delle più antiche vedute complete della città, un'incisione xilografica di Hanß Abelin e Hanß Rogel del 1569, sul colle è ancora presente un castello. In un'immagine del 1673, disegnata da Matthäus Merian, il Lützelburg è rappresentato come una rovina.
