Dornumersiel e Westeraccumersiel sono una comunità rurale storicamente sviluppatasi sulla costa del Mare del Nord nell'Ostfriesland, nell'area dell'ex baia di Dornumer. Tra le due frazioni scorre il Dornumersieler Tief, noto anche come Accumer Tief, con il confine storico tra il Norderland a ovest e l'Harlingerland a est. Nel centro abitato, il canale si amplia dal decennio 1960 in poi fino a diventare il bacino di raccolta dell'impianto di drenaggio e delle opere di Accumersiel, che sono stati organizzati lungo la nuova linea principale del dikes vicino al mare di Wadden. Nella zona esterna della diga si trova il porto peschereccio e turistico di Accumersiel. Il centro balneare costiero di Dornumersiel fa parte del comune di Dornum dal 2001.
