Lo Stadio Olimpico Lluís Companys, in omaggio al Presidente della Generalitat della Catalogna, Lluís Companys, fucilato dal regime franchista sulla montagna di Montjuïc, nell'anno 1940, si trova situato sulla montagna di Montjuïc. Fu progettato dall'architetto Pere Domènech i Roura e inaugurato nell'anno 1929 in occasione dell'Esposizione Universale di Barcellona. Negli anni sessanta fu sottoutilizzato e le sue gradinate cominciarono a evidenziare preoccupanti sintomi di rovina. La celebrazione a Barcellona dei Giochi Olimpici del 1992 permise la sua ristrutturazione a cura del team di architetti Correa-Milà-Margarit-Buixadé e con la partecipazione dell'italiano Gregotti.
