Dopo un'inondazione catastrofica nel 1957 che devastò la città di Valencia, il fiume Turia è stato diviso in due ai confini occidentali della città. Il vecchio letto del fiume è ora un parco lussureggiante e degradato che consente a ciclisti e pedoni di attraversare gran parte della città senza utilizzare le strade. Il parco, chiamato 'Giardino del Turia' (JardÝ del T·ria/JardÝn del Turia), presenta innumerevoli laghetti, sentieri, fontane, fiori, campi da calcio, caffè, opere d'arte, pareti da arrampicata, una pista di atletica, un giardino zen e altro ancora. I numerosi ponti sopra il parco collegano il traffico che attraversa il parco.
