Il castello di Torelló, noto anche come castell dels moros, si trova sulla cresta di una piccola catena montuosa, a 781 m di altitudine, a nord della pianura di Vich, sopra la valle di Torelló e il fiume Ges, sopra i quali fungeva da bastione di vigilanza.
Per la sua posizione, circa 250 m sopra le valli del fiume Ges e del fiume Ter, che qui nasce dai pirenei, a un'altezza di 500 m, offre una vista privilegiata sulla pianura di Vich e su tutte le sue propaggini fino al Montseny.
Il castello fu un bastione formidabile per controllare le entrate e le uscite della pianura di Vich e della Catalogna verso nord in questo settore dei Pirenei.
