Het kasteel van Torelló, ook bekend als castell dels moros, ligt op de top van een kleine bergkam, op 781 m hoogte, ten noorden van de vlakte van Vich, boven het dal van Torelló en de rivier Ges, waar het fungeerde als een uitkijkpost.
Vanwege zijn ligging, zo'n 250 m boven de valleien van de rivier Ges en de rivier Ter, die hier ontspringt uit de prepyreneeën, op een hoogte van 500 m, biedt het een bevoorrechte blik op de vlakte van Vich en op alle uitlopers die haar omringen tot aan de Montseny.
Het kasteel was een formidabel bastion om de in- en uitgangen van de vlakte van Vich en Catalonië naar het noorden in deze sector van de Pyreneeën te controleren.
