Gap è una città nel sud-est della Francia. È il capoluogo del dipartimento delle Hautes-Alpes e ha circa 39.000 abitanti. Si trova a circa 150 km a nord di Aix-en-Provence. La città è conosciuta per il formaggio prodotto lì, il gapençais.
La città fu fondata dai Galli. Nel 14 a.C. fu conquistata dall'imperatore Augusto e sotto i Romani si chiamava Vapincum. Nel 1512 fu annessa dalla corona francese. Dopo il suo ritorno dall'esilio all'Elba, Napoleone percorse la Route Napoléon a lui dedicata verso Gap.
Il capoluogo del dipartimento (05) delle Hautes-Alpes si chiama Gap. Gap è un paese storico fondato nel 14 a.C. dai Galli. In epoca romana era sotto il controllo dei Romani, le cui influenze sono ancora riconoscibili. La città è nota principalmente per il formaggio prodotto lì, il gapençais. Anche l'area sciistica, France Ski de Fond, è popolare, con i suoi 50 km di piste da sci di fondo che si affacciano sulla valle della Durance.
