Alla fine del XIX secolo, la regione contava quasi 230 ovili di questo tipo. Oggi rimane solo quello di Goualade, che è il più notevole. Ha un recinto in muratura di alios e calcare di oltre 20 metri di diametro. Questo tipo di edificio forniva un riparo per le greggi di pecore durante la notte, per proteggerle dalle intemperie e dai lupi, ma permetteva anche di raccogliere il concime indispensabile per la coltivazione di alcuni ettari di terreno povero vicino alle fattorie. L'ovile è elencato nell'inventario supplementare dei monumenti storici.
