Il delta, l'apertura della Leyre nella baia di Arcachon, è costituito da molteplici siti in cui si giustappongono parti stabili occupate da prati salati, aree arginate, canneti, prati pascolivi e settori soggetti alla dinamica delle maree, banchi sabbiosi e velme. L'acqua dolce del fiume e quella salata dell'oceano si uniscono e favoriscono l'insediamento di specie specifiche. Situato su una delle rotte migratorie più importanti d'Europa, è un vero e proprio santuario degli uccelli. Un circuito di 9 km permette di scoprire la foresta a galleria lungo la Leyre e le pianure umide circondate da paludi più a valle.
