La quercia si trova all'ingresso della foresta come un valoroso guardiano. La leggenda vuole che abbia più di 850 anni. Si dice che fosse il luogo in cui le streghe si incontravano di notte. Il suo nome risale alla grande epoca della stregoneria seguita alla peste del 1505. Un'altra leggenda narra che nel 1180 l'imperatore Federico Barbarossa, durante una battuta di caccia, avrebbe infilato la sua spada nel bagagliaio per fissare il luogo della sosta pranzo. Luogo mistico, la quercia è classificata come albero notevole di Francia.
