Conosciuto come il "Knochenheiler" di Berig: un guaritore che ha lasciato il segno. Era famoso per le sue indiscusse capacità di guaritore, ma anche per la sua grande generosità. Curava persone e animali per carità, in un'epoca e in una regione in cui i medici erano rari. Morì il 13 luglio 1850 a Bérig-Vintrange, ed è sepolto nel cimitero comunale. Il suo epitaffio rende omaggio al grande uomo che era.
