Costruita nella prima metà del XII secolo, ai confini del Ducato di Lorena e della Contea di Champagne, l'Abbazia di Sainte-Marie de Mureau dipendeva dall'ordine dei Premonstratensi ed era un importante luogo di scambio. In particolare, ospitava una biblioteca con oltre 4600 volumi (oggi conservati nella biblioteca di Neufchâteau). Oggi ne rimangono solo alcuni resti, tra cui la porta dell'abbazia, ricostruita nel 1683 e consolidata nel 2019.

Il villaggio di Pargny-sous-Mureau ospita
- una cappella dedicata a San Quirino costruita nel 1669
- una chiesa del XVIII secolo ristrutturata nel 2012
- un lavatoio del XIX secolo con una cappella originale
- fontane e calvari, tra cui uno risalente al XVI secolo
