Fino alla Rivoluzione francese, nella città fu istituito un capitolo di canonichesse. Una passeggiata nel quartiere del Capitolo permette al visitatore di scoprire le case canoniche del XVI e XVIII secolo con le loro facciate colorate e il sito dell'antico chiostro. Le targhe e gli stemmi sopra le porte di ogni casa ricordano i nomi delle ultime canonichesse che vi hanno abitato fino alla rivoluzione.
A pochi passi si trova una parte delle mura medievali costruite nel XIII secolo in arenaria dei Vosgi (75 m di bastioni e 3 torri), una delle quali ospita il museo storico e archeologico della città.
