Il comune di Combreux era già una parrocchia nel XVI secolo. La chiesa attuale è la terza ad essere costruita sul territorio del comune.
La prima, di modeste dimensioni, fu costruita in una data sconosciuta e si trovava nell'attuale parco del castello. Fu "non solo bruciata, ma rovinata fino alle fondamenta" durante le guerre di religione.
La seconda fu costruita sul sito attuale nel 1636. Nel corso del XIX secolo rischiò di crollare e fu demolito e sostituito nel 1869 dall'edificio che conosciamo oggi, che ha la particolarità di non essere orientato, ma costruito su un asse nord-sud. La chiesa è dedicata a San Pietro e ospita anche le reliquie di Santa Filomena.
