La piazza Jorrand prende il nome da Paul Jorrand, un medico di Guérande che possedeva una casa in rue du Prat, molto vicina a questa piazza, a cui è stato dato il nome nel 1941. Paul Jorrand studiò al Collège de Felletin e poi alla Facoltà di Medicina di Parigi, dove conseguì il dottorato nel 1909. Iniziò la sua carriera come medico di miniera a Liévin prima di trasferirsi a Guéret dopo la Prima Guerra Mondiale del 1914-1918.
