In occasione del bicentenario della nascita dell'egittologa Mariette Pacha di Boulogne, la città ha inaugurato un obelisco alto 12 metri ai piedi delle mura.
È fatto interamente di marmo proveniente dalle cave di Vallée Heureuse a Rinxent. È una replica più piccola dell'Obelisco della Concordia a Parigi. L'obelisco si erge nel cuore del nuovo giardino e pesa più di 60 tonnellate.
