La città di Waterford nel sud-est dell'Irlanda fu assediata due volte nel 1649 e nel 1650 durante la conquista cromwelliana dell'Irlanda. La città era tenuta dai cattolici confederati irlandesi sotto il generale Richard Farrell e dalle truppe realiste inglesi sotto il generale Thomas Preston. Fu assediata dagli inglesi parlamentari sotto Oliver Cromwell, Michael Jones e Henry Ireton.
