Solo nel 1910 i benedettini di Saint-Maurice e Saint-Maur costruirono la imponente abbazia neoromanica, la cui torre con tegole rosse si innalza alta sopra il centro città, risaltando vividamente contro il paesaggio verde. L'abbazia sorse come omaggio all'abbazia borgognona di Cluny. Un fatto storico straordinario è anche la ribellione (nel 1798) dei contadini di Clervaux contro il dominio francese. Non lontano dall'abbazia, un monumento ricorda questo fatto.
