Pas in 1910 bouwden de benedictijnen van Saint-Maurice en Saint-Maur de imposante neoromaanse abdij, waarvan de toren met rode pannen hoog boven het stadscentrum uitsteekt, en fel afsteekt tegen het groene landschap. De abdij kwam er als een eerbetoon aan de Bourgondische abdij van Cluny. Een merkwaardig historisch feit is ook de opstand (in 1798) van de boeren van Clervaux tegen de Franse overheersing. Vlak bij de abdij brengt een monument dit feit in herinnering.
