Wemeldinge si trova sull'Oosterschelde e sull'imboccatura settentrionale del Canale di Zuid-Beveland. Un tempo si viveva principalmente della pesca e della raccolta delle ostriche (La Baia delle Ostriche). Nel frattempo, i turisti hanno scoperto il paese. Wemeldinge ha nel 2004 un grande porto turistico, numerose case vacanza e due campeggi.
