Wemeldinge liegt an der Oosterschelde und der nördlichen Mündung des Kanals durch Süd-Beveland. In früheren Zeiten lebte man vor allem von Fisch- und Austernfang (Die Austernbucht). Mittlerweile haben Touristen das Dorf entdeckt. Wemeldinge hat im Jahr 2004 einen großen Yachthafen, zahlreiche Ferienhäuser und zwei Campingplätze.
