Aarlanderveen viene menzionata per la prima volta come signoria nel contratto di fidanzamento di Floris IV d'Olanda e Machteld di Brabante. Il villaggio passa nei secoli in possesso di diverse famiglie nobiliari, tra cui Van Oudshoorn e Van IJsselstein. All'inizio del Rinascimento, nel 1584 o 1593, Aarlanderveen entra in possesso del maresciallo Ernst van Mansveld o Von Mandelsloh.
