Si trova a sud della città di Leeuwarden, a nord-ovest di Grouw e a nord-est di Rauwerd. Nel territorio del villaggio scorre lo Zwin e lungo i confini del villaggio ci sono De Jokse e la Mosella. Insieme a Friens, Aegum e Idaard formano una comunità comune. Il villaggio aveva un proprio porto, ma quest'ultimo è stato infine interrato. Nel 2021 il villaggio contava 1.085 abitanti. Sotto il villaggio rientrano anche le frazioni De Drie Romers e Tsienzerburen.
