Nel mezzo del vasto paesaggio di polder di West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen si trova Zuidzande [Suusande]. Il nome del villaggio è composto da zand ‘piano di sabbia’ e zuid ‘situato a sud’. Nel 13o secolo era infatti un'isola situata a sud dell'ex Isola di Cadzand. Nella piazza del paese, nel cuore del villaggio, è situato un ristorante nell'ex Chiesa Riformata. Questa chiesa è stata dismessa nel 1996, facendo di Zuidzande il primo villaggio senza chiesa della Zeeland.
