Il Linge è un fiume che scorre nella Betuwe da Doornenburg a Gorinchem. Il Linge scorre in un paesaggio vario con frutteti, prati, balene pilota e canneti. Con 108 km è il fiume interamente olandese più lungo. Attraverso il Linge, l'acqua di percolazione e le acque piovane di oltre 70.000 ettari di terreno della Betuwe vengono drenate e infine scaricate nel Merwede.
Una volta il Linge era un fiume che causava rotture di argini e inondazioni. La condizione della terra era così incerta che agli agricoltori veniva pagato se lasciavano pascolare il bestiame in alcune zone basse. Questi polder venivano allagati così spesso che non c'era interesse per il loro utilizzo.
Ora la Lingestreek è un'area unica dove il sistema di fossati e la posizione dei mulini e delle fattorie sono rimasti invariati in molti luoghi nel corso dei secoli.
