Già molti baristi hanno lavorato alla spina del caffè De Noordse Plassen a Noorden, Ko Kas è stato l'ultimo. È morto a 66 anni nel 2018 e dopo 20 anni ha deciso che era abbastanza. Nel gennaio 2019 un incendio è scoppiato nel caffè ormai chiuso De Noordse Plassen sulla Voorweg a Noorden. Da allora il vecchio caffè è circondato da recinzioni da cantiere.
