Il Vecchio Zederik è un canale nei Paesi Bassi, che fa parte del confine idrologico dell'Alblasserwaard e di Utrecht. Zederik è un antico nome germanico di cui la forma scritta più antica è Serich. Successivamente, questo cambiò in Seric, Zerike e infine come Zeerik o Zederik. Non si può dire con certezza cosa significhi esattamente il nome Zederik. È più probabile che il nome Zederik fosse un nome regionale, quindi un concetto, con cui si intendeva un drenaggio delle acque situato al di fuori o al confine esterno della terra paludosa bonificata.
