Costruita all'inizio degli anni cinquanta del secolo scorso, la Klokkenberg si è rapidamente ampliata, diventando il sanatorio per tubercolosi più grande e moderno dei Paesi Bassi. Centinaia di pazienti affetti da tbc vi sono stati curati. In seguito, sono state realizzate anche altre strutture per la cura medica. Caratteristica della Klokkenberg è la disposizione simmetrica degli edifici. Nel vasto complesso si possono riconoscere chiaramente le influenze della Scuola di Delft. Le strutture sanitarie nel frattempo sono scomparse dalla Klokkenberg. Un successivo piano per trasformare l'edificio in un complesso per anziani è naufragato. Il complesso è attualmente in fase di ristrutturazione per diventare un luogo di soggiorno per giovani e anziani.
