Il Hoogeland è la regione sopra il Reitdiep. Uno dei paesaggi culturali più antichi dei Paesi Bassi, poiché 600 anni prima di Cristo i primi abitanti si stabilirono già in questa zona costiera. Per tenere i piedi asciutti furono sollevati terreni artificiali e ancora oggi le storiche chiese si trovano al punto più alto. Bellissimi panorami e villaggi accoglienti si alternano. Il fertile terreno argilloso attira ancora nuovi residenti, poiché un orto, qui va bene!
