Waarland è un villaggio nel comune di Schagen nella provincia dell'Olanda Settentrionale. Il villaggio contava nel 2021 circa 2.690 abitanti. Waarland significa terra bassa. La storia del villaggio di Waarland è strettamente legata alla lotta contro l'acqua. Il tutto è consistito per molto tempo in diverse isolette e laghi che successivamente sono stati prosciugati. La Slootgaard, il Bleekmeer, il Schaapskuilmeer, il Speketer, il Koetenburg e il Koog erano tutti laghi che sono stati prosciugati. Il Waarlandpolder è stato prosciugato nel 1575 con l'aiuto di uno dei primi mulini ad acqua. Il Oude Slootgaard è stato prosciugato nel 1590; questo si trovava all'interno della diga circolare del polder Heerhugowaard ed è stato successivamente unito a Waarland.
