Il Palazzo Estaus in Piazza Rossio, a Lisbona, era il quartier generale dell'Inquisizione portoghese. Il palazzo originale fu costruito sul lato nord della piazza intorno al 1450 come alloggio per dignitari stranieri e nobili in visita a Lisbona.
Nel 1536, durante il regno del re Giovanni III, l'Inquisizione fu installata in Portogallo e il palazzo divenne infine la sede dell'istituzione. Il palazzo aveva una prigione e un tribunale dove gli accusati di eresia, stregoneria e, in particolare, di praticare segretamente la fede ebraica, erano sottoposti a processo, persecuzione, tortura ed esecuzione. La piazza di Rossio e la vicina piazza di San Domingo erano spesso utilizzate come cornice per esecuzioni pubbliche. Il primo auto-da-fé ufficiale ebbe luogo nel 1540.
