Bom Jesus do Monte a Braga è uno dei santuari più iconici e imponenti del Portogallo.
L'entrata è segnata da un grande arco trionfale in pietra , spesso chiamato "Arco do Bom Jesus" . Questa porta simboleggia il passaggio dal mondo ordinario al luogo sacro . È decorata con dettagli barocchi e neoclassici .
Proprio all'ingresso troverete statue di personaggi biblici e santi, che invitano i visitatori alla contemplazione. Temi come la penitenza e la fede sono spesso enfatizzati.
Da qui inizia l' iconica scalinata a zigzag (Escadório do Bom Jesus), composta da 577 gradini.
