Het oogt nu als een klein dorpje in het groen, maar de robuuste toren van de Hervormde Kerk verraadt dat dit plaatsje andere tijden heeft gekend. Dat is ook zo. Sint-Anna ter Muiden, ouder dan Sluis, was eens een levendige havenstad mét stadsrechten. De 14de eeuwse kerktoren diende ooit ook als vuurtoren. Je kunt het je nu bijna niet meer voorstellen. De verzanding van het Zwin heeft aan de glorietijd van Sint-Anna ter Muiden een einde gemaakt. Gebleven is het driehoekige marktplein met schilderachtige huisjes en een dorpspomp uit 1789. Het geheel staat terecht op de monumentenlijst.
