Cela ressemble maintenant à un petit village verdoyant, mais la robuste tour de l'église réformée trahit que cet endroit a connu d'autres temps. C'est en effet le cas. Sint-Anna ter Muiden, plus ancien que Sluis, était autrefois une ville portuaire animée avec des droits de ville. La tour de l'église du 14ème siècle servait également de phare. On a presque du mal à l'imaginer maintenant. L'ensablement du Zwin a mis fin à l'âge d'or de Sint-Anna ter Muiden. Reste la place de marché triangulaire avec ses maisons pittoresques et une pompe à eau du village datant de 1789. L'ensemble figure à juste titre sur la liste des monuments.
