De kaai van Sint-Amands vervulde tot de jaren '70 een rol als aanlegplaats. Door de verhoging van de dijken verdween deze activiteit. Het graf van de Franstalige schrijver Emile Verhaeren (1855-1916) en zijn vrouw Marthe Massin stak in de jaren '50 nog boven de kaai uit, maar moest worden aangepast aan de stijgende hoogwaterstanden. Vanaf de kaai heb je een prachtig uitzicht over de Schelde richting Mariekerke, met aan de overkant het Sint-Amandsschoor. Een bezoek aan de Dam, het Molenmuseum en het Provincaal Verhaerenmuseum is zeker de moeite waard.
