Het kasteel Cassiers, later de Groote, werd zoals de meeste gebouwen tijdens Wereldoorlog I verwoest. Kort na de oorlog werd het herbouwd.
Sinds het einde van de 19e eeuw wordt dit kasteel al bewoond door de familie de Groote. Ook nu is het kasteel nog steeds privé-eigendom waardoor het niet toegankelijk is voor het publiek.
