Bronzen beeld, dat de aloude manier van het poeren of palingvissen, met behulp van paraplu en wormen weergeeft. Het 'Poermenneke' symboliseert de manier waarop men tot de dag van vandaag nog vist in de Dommel in Neerpelt en omgeving.
Het beeld is een creatie van kunstenaar Lou Boonman en werd naar aanleiding van Open Monumentendag op 9 september 1990 officieel ingehuldigd.
