Centraal in het dorp staat de Sint-Martinuskerk. Deze kerk werd de afgelopen eeuwen regelmatig verbouwd, maar de toren is opgetrokken uit Doornikse kalksteen en dateert van de 13de eeuw. Ze kreeg heel wat te lijden in de beeldenstorm. Dit resulteert in 3 types zijgevel: een 18de eeuwse noordelijke bakstenen muur, die schril afsteekt tegen de zuidelijke veldsteen van destijds. Na WO I werd de westelijke gevel en de toren terug herbouwd. Toen kreeg de Markt ook een totaal nieuw uitzicht onder leiding van architect Valentin Vaerwyck, die ook het gemeentehuis ontwierp.
